Sick Again

Thursday, January 28, 2010 2
Kaylyn is sick again. How many times can a kid get sick this year? Seriously! I mean we have already gotten a note from the school about here absences (see this post). But she has been legitimately sick. I have notes from the doctors office for all her absences.

Anyway, I noticed when she came home today that her eyes looked really tired. She then started coughing. I figured her coughing was from her asthma so I gave her a breathing treatment and was hoping that was the end of it. It wasnt. Why is it that it always gets worse at night? I would really like to know why! She has now started coughing non-stop and is all congested. For now she does not have a fever. I put her to bed around 7:30 tonight and since then I have been in there 5 different times...and its 12:25 now. I have yet to go to sleep because as soon as I lay down she starts crying. Looks like I will be up for a while. Hopefully we can sleep in, although I do have my alarm set for 8:15 so that I can call the doctors office and get her an appointment.

I called the Baby A's mom and let her know so I will not have her tomorrow. I am "not" a little excited about that. I forgot how hard it is to keep up with a baby. The constant attention you have to show them and all the baby gear! I forgot how heavy the carseat is and all the diapers you have to change. Oh well, I get to focus all my attention on my sick Kaylyn. I am just hoping this is a cold and nothing serious. Two weeks ago she had strep but seem to get over it quickly. She finished all of her antibiotic and was able to return to school a day later. I am hoping this isnt a relapse of strep. But we will see...

My Grandfather

Wednesday, January 27, 2010 3
If you can please say a prayer for my family today. My Grandfather is going in to have a full body scan to see if his Leukemia has spread. He has been in remission for over 2 years now and went for his checkup and his blood count was elevated. We had to wait a whole week to get the results. Sure enough the Leukemia had returned. We are just praying that we caught it quick enough so that its hasnt spread. He hasnt felt sick or shown any signs so we are hoping that is a good sign.

He is very upset about this as you could imagine. He did not like the chemotherapy (which who does) and is not looking forward to starting it again. Plus when you are on chemotherapy your immune system is so weak so its best if he stays home and out of public places. He is by no means a home body. He loves to go and be outside, go to work and of course to church.

Please pray for strength for him today as he goes through the scan and that God gives him peace about this. I know it will be hard for him and my family because it was a long journey to get him into remission. Thanks for your prayers!

Not Me Monday

Monday, January 25, 2010 4

Yes, my friends! It's that time again! It's Not Me Monday! So here is what I have NOT been doing the last week! After you read my Not Me's dont forget to head over to MckMama's Blog and see what her and everyone else have NOT been doing lately!
  • I did NOT leave my hair straightner on for over 14 hrs! I did NOT turn it on Friday night as I was getting dressed to go out and obviously left it on and then find it still on around 11 am on Saturday morning! I am a very responsible person and know to turn off anything hot like that!
  • My husband did NOT cut open his hand at work the other day and didnt think it was serious. He was given the chance by his work to go and get stitches but he declined. I did NOT tell him he could lay in the floor and bleed to death before I took him to the ER to pay a $100 copay there when it would have been free (to us) if he would have claimed workman's comp. I am a loving wife and would never tell my husband that!
  • I did NOT sleep till 11 am on Saturday morning!
  • I did NOT throw up my hands at Kaylyn when she brought home her 3rd note in 1 week. I did NOT tell her I give up on getting her to behave in school and stop talking so much. I would never say anything like that because I am a good mom!

Small Talk Six

Saturday, January 23, 2010 3

Today’s topic is “6 ways your children tested you this week.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .

My Six this week:
  1. Kaylyn got a note sent home 3 out of 4 days this week. It seems that she just "has" to talk...all the time.
  2. Kaylyn said a$$ the other day. Not to me directly but I overheard her when she was playing a game...she is very competitive.
  3. I asked Kaylyn to pick her room and to make sure everything is off her floor. When I walk back in everything is literally up off of the floor...and on top of the bed!
  4. When Kaylyn asks to do something and I tell her not right now she comes back every two minutes and keeps asking! Drives me nuts!
  5. I put Kaylyn in the bathtub the other night and went to put a load of laundry on. When I came back my bathroom floor was pretty much flooded and of course she doesnt know how the water got "out" of the tub and onto the floor!
  6. Since Kaylyn is six you would think she could drink out of a normal cup...well she cant. I have been putting things back into sippie cups because I have cleaned up at least 4 spills this week alone.

Status Update

Thursday, January 21, 2010 13

I saw these on Facebook as some of my friends status's and liked it so I just had to post it.

Reports state that Ronald McDonald was charged with the murder of Burger King. The crime took place in front of the Dairy Queen, reportedly over some ho named Wendy. According to Popeye, the funeral will be held tomorrow at Church's.

WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Press 1 for English. Press 2 to disconnect until you learn to speak English. And remember only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, JESUS CHRIST. And the AMERICAN SOLIDER. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

This is now my status.

I saw on the internet that Haiti is without a government. To help out, I am donating one Obama, one Pelosi, one Reid, one Frank, one Coakley and two Clintons! They may keep them permanently! I'd give them a constitution; but I can't find mine right now! ~~~ copy and paste this in your status

Imaginary Friend

Kaylyn is now 6 and has a very creative imagination. However, just the other day I was thinking to myself that most kids go through the "imaginary friend" stage. Well let me tell you that I spoke too soon!

Last night we were on our way to church and everything was the usual. Talking and asking for McDonalds. I took her to her class and I went to mine. An hour later I picked her up and BOOM, she has an imaginary friend.

Kaylyn: Mom, I would like you to meet Hannah. Say "Hello" to Hannah.

Not realizing what she was talking about I looked around and saw all the other kids that I know and none of them were new or named Hannah. I looked at Kaylyn with a very confused look.

Kaylyn: Mooommm! Say "Hello" to Hannah. She is standing right here and she is going to come home with us tonight.

She leans close to me and whispers in my ear that Hannah is her new friend and nobody can see Hannah but her.

Kaylyn: Hannah, we normally go by McDonalds after church do you want some? Come on Hannah, lets go play.

All the way home she "talked" to Hannah about this and that. In a way it was cute but in another way I am not sure I am going to like this phase. I even had to tell Hannah good night and that I loved her lol!

Does your child have an imaginary friend? Did you?

Not Me Monday

Monday, January 11, 2010 4

Yes, my friends! It's that time again! It's Not Me Monday! So here is what I have NOT been doing the last week! After you read my Not Me's dont forget to head over to MckMama's Blog and see what her and everyone else have NOT been doing lately!

  • I did NOT have a girls day out with a couple of good girl friends on Saturday. No loving mother or wife would spend all 6 hours on a Saturday with her friends. Not me!
  • I did NOT have an abscessed tooth Thursday night during our "supposed" snow storm. I did NOT have to go Friday and have my tooth pulled. I am NOT 26 yrs old and missing a tooth!
  • I did NOT send my child to church not realizing she was sick. She never complained of anything Sunday morning and she happen to lay her head on my lap during church and I was running my fingers through her hair and realized how warm she felt. She did NOT have a fever and I did NOT have to take her to After Hours where she was NOT diagnosed with strep!
  • I am still NOT waiting to find out if I have a job or not! I did NOT go on this interview back in early December and still waiting to find out. I am NOT eager to find out!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Small Talk Six-Jan 9

Saturday, January 9, 2010 4

Small Talk Six topic for this week is 6 of your most vivid childhood memories.
  1. When I was six I remember going to Disney Land down in Orlando, FL. I dont remember everything but I remember me and my brother sitting with Mickey and getting our picture taken with those Mickey caps on our head!
  2. On the last day of school in fifth grade I remember going camping with my grandparents. We were gone for about 5 days and I had never been away that long but I really enjoyed it...except for the showering in a room with other people!
  3. I dont remember the my exact age but I think around 10 or 11 for Christmas Santa my parents got my brother and I a go-cart. We thought that was the coolest because when we got up early that morning the go-cart was actually in our living room. I thought that was pretty cool of Santa my parents rather than leaving it outside for us to "find."
  4. Speaking of Christmas, I remember every year as a child spending Christmas Eve with my dad's side of the family and then Christmas with my mom's side. All of the family was always there and it was just a great time.
  5. Since birth I was diagnosed with Asthma & Eczema (really dry skin) and I remember in Kindergarten that we were having to hold hands for something in PE and this girl refused to hold my hand because the palm of my hand had a crack in it from being so dry (like when your lips are dry and crack open). My feeling were hurt by her actions and the big deal that she made of the situation. Ironically, that girl later became my best friend throughout elementary and high school!
  6. As mentioned above I had Asthma as a child and because it wasnt that common back then I had a lot of trouble with it. It wasnt controlled like it is today with today's medicine. So on October 29, 1987 (I was 4) I stopped breathing completely in my sleep. My mom got worried because I normally wake up during the night with problems and I hadnt so she went in there to check on my and found me all blue. They gathered me up and rushed me to the hospital...I remember coming to the second they took me outside and the cold air hit me. I was admitted into the hospital for a few days for observation but obviously I am fine now.

Rooster In the Yard

Friday, January 8, 2010 1
I mentioned months ago (actually back in April) in this post that Kaylyn has two chickens as pets that live at my parents house. Well a couple of months ago the black chick died...we think of the bird flu.Lol! Not really, we dont know why but it was around the time the swine flu was sweeping the nation and my dad cracked the joke of the bird flu since he was a bird lol! However the other chick turned into a rooster...welll I guess it was a rooster the whole time but you know what I meant. So the "Rooster" is all big now and very pretty. He is learning to do his little "cock a doodle do" very well...so far he stops at "cock a doodle" he hasnt gotten the "do" out yet lol! He is working on it though. My dad named him Foghorn Leghorn after the cartoon. Foghorn loves my dad. My dad has started letting him out of his cage and lets him roam the yard. He always comes back. He has actually gotten to the point where he will wonder around for a while and then he will just go back into his cage. All my dad has to do is shut the door on the cage. When he is out roaming the yard anytime my dad is outside he will follow him around like a puppy. It is so funny! He will come right up to my dad but he is weary of anyone else. Obviously my dad feeds him so thats why he likes him. However, the other day he was out in the yard and Kaylyn, my dad and my uncle were in the yard talking. Kaylyn took some of his food (chicken scratch stuff (seeds and corn)) and was trying to get him to eat it out of her hand. Well being the 5 year old that she is everytime he got close to her she would jerk her hand away. I guess it made him mad because one time she did that and he freaked out on her and started flapping his wings and ended up clawing her in the face. He got her good too. He scratched her right up under the right eye. Another inch up and it would have been in her eye...she was lucky! Of course I was sympathetic but when I found out she was fine I told her that you cant tease animals like that. Because thats what she was doing, teasing him with his own food. She does the same thing to my inlaws dogs. It really makes me mad. So my dad felt a little guily because he couldnt get to her in time to stop the rooster but all in all she was fine. It just really scared her. Since then though she refuses to get around the rooster when we go over there. She even asked my dad to kill it lol! Not that he would but I think it would make her feel better!

Here are some pics I took of the rooster the other day before the incident.

Oh Crap!

Thursday, January 7, 2010 1
I have to go to the dentist. I hate the dentist...I mean that in the nicest way. I have never liked going so clearly I steer clear unless I absolutely have to go. Why do I need to go now you ask? I think I have an abscessed tooth. I have this tooth in the back of my mouth that I had a root canal done on it years ago. They put a temporary crown on and it held good for a while. I refused to go in and get a crown because my insurance company only pays for 1/2 so that means I would owe at least $400 and frankly...I dont have it. So I never went to get a crown put on/in. So back in February (yes, almost a year ago & the only reason I remember is because I was on the way to Kaylyn's Valentine party at school) the crown started coming loose and then eventually fell out. Since then my tooth has gradually gotten worse. Never no pain because I had the root canal but has become a food packer (I know its gross!) which is obviously where now the abscess is coming from.

Over the last few days I have notice that my gums are a little swollen back there around that tooth. My gums are getting sore though. Yesterday I noticed when I woke up I had this bad taste in my mouth. I just thought it was "morning breath" so I brushed my teeth. The taste never went away. I dont even know how to describe it but its nasty tasting. It didnt hit me until earlier today that it may be from my tooth. Then Kevin said something about an abscess so I googled it. The article that came up said that some of the symptoms of an abscess tooth is pain, bad breath, bitter taste in your mouth, red & swollen gums, and pain when chewing. I have most of those symptoms so I figure that is what it is.

It makes sense. I mean I havent had the tooth looked at so I am sure there is decay in there and that it is abscessed. Now my problem is there isnt a dentist open. It is Thursday and most everyone is the state of Alabama closed early today because we were "suppose" to get snow (and we didnt) and then most are closing tomorrow because they are worried about the road conditions in the morning. Then there is the weekend! I am going to have to find a dentist that is open on the weekend because there is no way I can go till next week with this. It is literally driving me crazy that I cant get this "taste" out of my mouth. I have brushed my teeth 7 times today and gargled with mouthwash 3 times. It wont go away.

I never thought I would say it but I really want to go to the dentist...

Get to Know Your Neighbor Day

Trisha over at MomDot started Get to Know Your Neighbor Day. So I wanted to link up and Introduce Myself. Click on the link and get to know your neighbor!

I have been married almost 7 years to my wonderful husband Kevin and we have a beautiful daughter names Kaylyn. Kaylyn will be 6 in about a week so I am in the process of planning her birthday party. I have a tendancy to wait till the last minute. I live in Central Alabama and have for all of my life. My husband is orignially from Miami but has been in Al for about 15 yrs. I unlike most people LOVE my inlaws. I have the best mother in law in the world. I talk to her at least once a day even if its about nothing. They only live about 10 mins from us and my parents live 15 so we are fortunate that Kaylyn's grandparents play an active role in her life.

I started my blog to track my weightloss however, I seemed to talk more about my life in it. So I am in the process of redoing my blog. It will be a place where I can talk about all aspects of my life not only my weightloss. I love to blog and I love blog stalking (be aware...I warned you). It is my outlet and I love it. I love to read and spend time with my family. I hate cooking and cleaning. I am currently unemployed but I am looking for a job. I like many people didnt realize it would be so hard to find a job. I have enjoyed my time "off" because it has allowed me to be apart of Kaylyn's first year in school which has been great. I am looking forward to what the New Year brings.

Dont forget to go to MomDot and link up and meet some of your neighbors!

Its So Cold Outside!

Wednesday, January 6, 2010 1
This morning and yesterday was so cold and I hear it's not going to get any better. Per the news they say we are going to get some snow tomorrow. Maybe 1-2 inches. I will believe it when I see it! However, everyone has run to the store and bought the usual milk and bread. We had to go to Publix tonight because I didnt have anything to cook and it was complete chaos in there. There were only 5 lanes open and each lane had at least 4 people waiting to checkout and then some.

Because of all the "snow" chaos they have already cancelled school tomorrow and possibly Friday. We have to wait till Friday morning to see what the weather is going to do. IF it does snow I think they will cancel school on Friday because the high on Friday is on 30...so if the snow does come and then melts then it will freeze and there will alot of ice! So tomorrow I get to sleep in with Kaylyn and they say sometime around noonish it will start snowing. Kevin gets off from work around 1 so by the time he gets home maybe we will be able to enjoy the snow toghether. Of course I will get pictures!

I just know that I am so tired of being cold. Our poor heater barely shuts off for five minutes and then kicks back on. Then in the morning it is always so cold and I hate getting out of my warm bed when its that cold. I personally hate bundling up just to go the store or whereever. Besided when I get in the car then I have to take it all off because I cant stand driving with a coat on! I would so much rather be hot than cold.

Anyway, below is a pic from my cell phone reading the thermometer on my car this morning. It's under the big "D" and it reads 12 degrees outstide. Freaking cold!

Not Me Monday

Monday, January 4, 2010 4

Yes, my friends! It's that time again! It's Not Me Monday! So here is what I have NOT been doing the last week! After you read my Not Me's dont forget to head over to MckMama's Blog and see what her and everyone else have NOT been doing lately!
  • My husband did NOT have to ask me to do laundry because he didnt have any socks to wear to work...he did NOT end up wearing a pair of mine!
  • After said Laundry was done it did NOT stay in the laundry basket for almost 3 days. I always fold my laundry right away!
  • I did NOT go to wipe my 5 month old cousins nose and at the same time tell her to blow! I know that a 5 month old can not "blow" her nose!
  • I did NOT go and deposit cash into my checking account only to go to the post office to get a money order. It did NOT dawn on me until later that I could have gone directly to the post office and pay for the money order with said cash.
  • I did NOT eat everything in sight before the New Year because I new I would be dieting after the New Year.
  • I was NOT cooking something in the oven and when I was done leave the oven door open to let some heat in my very cold house! My house is child proof and I would not jeopardize my child's safety. Besides I did NOT confine my child to her room with a movie for a little while...

Saturday

Saturday, January 2, 2010 3
This Saturday has been a great start to the new year. Last night I went to my parents for dinner and Kaylyn asked them if she could spent the night and of course they agreed. It has actually been a while since she has stayed with them so I was a little shocked she wanted to stay. The last couple of months she has gone through a "Mom, I dont want to leave your side" phase. So when I got ready to leave I just knew she would want to come home with me...but she didnt. She was excited about staying and I was excited to actually have a night to myself with Kevin. We watched a few movies and that was our night.

Since I didnt have Kaylyn I actually got to sleep in and I got up around 11:30. It felt so good to sleep in because once again its been a while since I have been able to do that. I am so use to getting up at 6 every morning I didnt know how to act lol! I went down to pick up Kaylyn and we stopped by Little Caesars Pizza on the way back home. Once we got home I had some pizza while we watched her movie G-Force...the one with the hamsters. It was pretty cute.

I worked on getting my DSL set up (I am mooching off someone's network in my neighborhood) but didnt have good luck. They are sending someone out to look at it between the hours of 8 & 12 tomorrow morning...I will be at church but Kevin will be here. I am looking forward to DSL so that I can get on the internet anywhere in my house. Right now I am confined to my couch.

So tonight it looks like Kaylyn and I will watch another movie together (I think UP). Kevin is working till 9 or 10 so its just me and Kaylyn. Hope everyone else has a great night!
